The Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery, a premier institution in the field, is seeking an experienced and visionary leader for the role of Assistant HOD or HOD of Jewellery Design at our Andheri, Mumbai campus. This full-time position is central to shaping the future of jewellery design education. You will be responsible for academic leadership, curriculum development, and mentoring both students and faculty. The role demands a blend of pedagogical excellence, industry insight, and a passion for fostering creativity and innovation in the next generation of jewellery designers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide academic leadership by leading or supporting the strategic direction of the Jewellery Design department.
• Develop, review, and enhance the curriculum to ensure it is contemporary, industry-relevant, and incorporates the latest design technologies and trends.
• Teach, mentor, and inspire students through effective instructional delivery and one-on-one guidance.
• Oversee the entire academic cycle, including student assessments, grading, and maintaining comprehensive academic documentation.
• Supervise, train, and support faculty development to ensure high teaching standards (for HOD role).
• Motivate and prepare students to participate in national and international design competitions and projects.
• Act as a bridge between academia and industry, integrating real-world practices and innovations into the learning environment.

Skill Requirement
We are looking for an accomplished academic professional or industry expert with a proven track record in leadership and education. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, a dedicated mentor, and possesses a deep understanding of the evolving jewellery design landscape.
Required Competencies & Skills:
• Experience: Significant experience in academic leadership, curriculum development, and teaching at a higher education level, preferably within design, fine arts, or jewellery.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop a team of faculty members (especially for the HOD role).
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for teaching, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong connection to and understanding of the jewellery industry, with up-to-date knowledge of design trends, software (e.g., Rhino, Matrix, CAD), and manufacturing technologies.
• Personal Attributes: A genuine passion for teaching, innovation in pedagogy, and the ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
• Educational Background: A relevant advanced degree (e.g., M.Des, MFA) or equivalent professional experience in Jewellery Design or a closely related field is expected.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹500,000.00 – ₹800,000.00 per year
