Dialysis Technician

Job Description

The Dialysis Technician plays a critical role in our renal care team, directly supporting patients with end-stage kidney disease. You will be responsible for safely and effectively operating hemodialysis equipment, delivering life-sustaining treatments under the supervision of a nephrologist. Your primary focus will be on providing compassionate, attentive care while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and clinical protocols within our dialysis unit.

Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, calibrate, and prepare dialysis machines and equipment for each treatment, ensuring all disposables (dialyzers, bloodlines) are properly installed.
• Perform hemodialysis procedures by initiating, monitoring, and terminating treatments as per physician orders and established protocols.
• Diligently monitor patient vital signs and condition before, during, and after dialysis, promptly reporting any complications like hypotension or nausea.
• Maintain stringent infection control, including practicing aseptic techniques, disinfecting machines, and ensuring proper biomedical waste disposal.
• Operate, monitor, and perform basic troubleshooting on dialysis equipment, including maintaining the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system and documenting water quality.
• Accurately document all treatment parameters, patient vitals, and machine data in patient charts and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Skill Requirement

The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of dialysis principles and renal physiology, coupled with excellent attention to detail to ensure patient safety and strict protocol adherence. You must be a team player with strong communication skills to support patients, families, and the clinical team effectively.

Required Skills & Competencies:
• Comprehensive knowledge of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis procedures and equipment.
• Strong understanding of renal physiology and the core principles of dialysis therapy.
• Demonstrated patient care skills with the ability to handle dialysis-related complications calmly and efficiently.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for educating patients and coordinating with the medical team.
• Meticulous attention to detail, with a strict commitment to infection control and aseptic practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
