Job Description

The Design Intern will support the Product Design & Development team through the entire product lifecycle, from concept to completion. This role involves hands-on assistance in designing mechanical components, creating prototypes, and validating designs through testing. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are innovative, manufacturable, and meet all quality and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Product Design & Development: Assist in designing components using CAD software, support prototype development, and participate in testing to validate design performance and functionality.
• Technical Analysis & Optimization: Help perform basic simulations and technical analysis to evaluate and optimize designs. Support root cause analysis for design issues and contribute to implementing solutions.
• Project Support: Aid senior engineers in managing design projects, tracking milestones, and coordinating with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to align with project goals.
• Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and maintain design drawings, BOMs, specifications, and reports. Ensure all documentation is updated and compliant with industry standards and internal guidelines.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for design and cost improvements. Participate in Kaizen initiatives and contribute innovative ideas during brainstorming sessions.

• Practical exposure to real-world product design and development cycles.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation processes.
• Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and quality compliance.
• Experience working within cross-functional engineering teams.

Skill Requirement

The ideal candidate is a curious and detail-oriented engineering student with a foundational grasp of mechanical design principles and CAD tools. They should possess good analytical and communication skills, with an eagerness to learn and contribute to practical product development in a collaborative environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Mechatronics.
• Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA).
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings and GD&T is a plus.
